I value Barbara's writing class. The atmosphere of trust and respect enables me to write from my heart and tap into my creative spirit. I always leave the class with new ideas for writing. I appreciate the diversity of age and experience in the class and always learn from the style and perspective of my fellow writers. -J.O. Concord, MA
I have changed my whole attitude about writing because of Barbara. Before, I thought everything had to be perfect. Now I realize it has to be "right," and that means just a representation of who we each are. I can't thank Barbara enough for being true to who she is. I can try to thank her by continuing to write, passing on to others what she has given me. -I.N. Lincoln, MA
Barbara and her mentor, Natalie Goldberg, have changed my life, directing me back to original impulses that I did not trust; a passion to write, discover, reflect and share. We do all of this in Barbara's class. Writing practice fills my life...sometimes squeezed in between my professional duties. The words we scribble here, make each one of us more full and alive. I have learned to listen deeply to those around me. -J.B. Carlisle, MA
Each week we assemble, write, dig deep into our memories, find out things about ourselves we never knew or maybe forgot and then we share these writings. In the process we have grown to know each other, to see how various people think and feel and put down thoughts on paper. Who knew that such a class would inspire me to find ways to express myself that were heretofore hidden, covered up by stultified classroom teaching? This form of teaching is not from the top down, but from the inside out, as though looking to the light at the edge of the mind.-

This class gives me a chance to write and hear the stories of others, to explore the words and the sounds of words. Each prompt leads in many directions- scattering ideas like leaves blown in the wind. All have a story to tell. -F.W.
I have been participating in this writing class for three years. I have found a home here for creative inspiration. I am in awe of the talents of my fellow writers. Barbara is an inclusive instructor, a guide who is able to pull the best words and ideas out of us. -L.T. Carlisle, MA
In this safe space, we are not judged; we look for the good in anything that has been written. The belief that we all have something to share is the gift. To write in community is rewarding and validating. Writing together we discover the details and ideas that feed and inspire us, that we might miss if not for this time we take from our busy lives to breathe and keep the pen moving. It feels essential. I am grateful to Barbara who gives her heart and believes in us and inspires us to write. -E.H. Lincoln, MA
Barbara gets writers so quickly into writing that they forget to worry about it! -N.A.
I so love Barbara's class. It is truly one of the highlights of my week and I always feel both grounded and buoyed by it. I love the way Barbara teaches, the thoughtful and ever so helpful way in which she discusses writing, and the wonderfully warm, supportive and receptive environment she creates. -M.C. Concord, MA
