I returned home on March 14, 2020 after leading Deepening the Writing Life, my annual writing retreat in New Mexico, to find a world gripped in a pandemic. I quickly shifted to leading on-line classes which I am still doing with a few exceptions.
In March 2022 we were back! I gathered with sixteen writers to work in person at the Mabel Dodge Luhan House for my seventh yearly retreat. It was a great joy to be together in that very familiar and sacred space.
I look forward to offering the next retreat in Taos, New Mexico on October 15-20, 2023.
CLASSES AND RETREATS I HAVE RECENTLY ATTENDED
I am always on the lookout for inspiration to deepen my work as a writer and a teacher. A beloved teacher once advised me to "stay a student," open and learning, even as I guide others in writing practice. To that end, I read, attend author presentations and seek out writing workshops and retreats.

Ten-day writing retreat in County Mayo, Ireland. Sitting by the peat fire in my small cottage by the Bay, I had time to write, edit and reflect. Two local writers were available to give feed back as I worked on revisions of work I have generated over the years. What a treasured and productive time it was.
2018 Northwest Writing Institute - Lewis and Clark College - Portland, Oregon
In June 2018, I attended an intensive week-long graduate course with Professor Kim Stafford, founder of the Northwest Writing Institute at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon. His method of teaching "generative writing" deepened and broadened what I have learned from my teachers over the years. Kim has recently completed a two year position as the Poet Laureate of Oregon.
Ink and Peat Interview
I was so grateful for the chance to be interviewed by Craig Stewart, the host and creator of Ink and Peat, a podcast for those who love writing and share an interest in Ireland.
